U14.1 2013 Grand Final Champions

The U14.1 side took on Figtree in the Grand Final for the U14.1 comp. The Cobras haven’t had much luck against Figtree, going down in all three encounters so far this year.

The first half was a pretty dour affair with both teams finding it hard to keep possession and create any clear cut chances. About 5 minutes into the second half Sam Miranda came off the bench. Sam Luyten put a through ball into the edge of the penalty area. Jack Noli did a great job and chased down the ball to chip it across the goal face and over the Figtree goalkeeper. Miranda pounced and knocked the ball into the post and it deflected into the back of the net.

To wrap things up Miranda showed his silky smooth skills to beat a couple of defenders and then beat the keeper with a low hard drive. While Miranda picked up the double the efforts of the whole team deserve recognition. Without a doubt the performances through the finals have been built from the solid back line. Neither Shellharbour, Bally Black, or Figtree were able to score a goal. With a  solid defense like that the boys were always going to be difficult to beat.

I look forward to getting a copy of a few of the many photos and videos that were taken through the game and the after match celebrations

From everyone associated with the team a big Thanks goes to Supercoach Julio Miranda for guiding the boys through the year to help them achieve a Title they thoroughly deserve.

RVJFC AWARDED THE FAIR PLAY CLUB AWARD

During the Grand Final celebrations RVJFC were awarded the Football South Coast Panaconnect Club Sportsmanship “Fair Play Club Award”. Each year all competition teams are asked to vote for the opposition team they considered to show the best sportsmanship during the year. FSC give out two separate awards. One for a large club, and one for a small club. During the presentation for the U14.1 side FSC Junior Competition Manager David Ware presented the award to the Team Captain Thomas Kentta.

Everyone in the RVJFC community can be extremely proud of the way all of the teams have conducted themselves this year, and this award is testament to that.
